Success!

Last November we planted winter wheat as an experiment to help feed the chickens.
I didn't know how well this would work but... there are now grain stocks appearing!

What do you when you have large baby geese living in your quarters?

You use them as a nice fluffy mattress of course!

Goats on pasture

 Even the two bucks can get along together in the pasture.

I just love watching the goats in the pasture enjoying the nice greenery.

Chicken tractor

Tom made a wonderful chicken tractor. We're going to use it for the roosters when they get a little older.

We made a hoop house of sorts with flight netting to keep the young turkeys from flying out of their pen and as added protection from foxes.

 The chicken tractor was parked up next to the turkey pen to start them out on the pasture. I don't want to let them totally loose in the pasture yet as they might get lost in the tall grass.

 Even domestic turkeys can fly - at least when they are small.

Other babies

We also have 80 layer pullets

 There are Blue Cochins, Pioneers, Blue-laced Red Wyandotts, Golden Wyandotts, White Wyandotts, Mincoras and New Hampshire Reds

 The free exotic is a silver polish - I hope it is a hen. (Small lack and white in the upper middle)

Also have Blue Slate and White Holland turkeys - moved them to the outside pen today at 6 weeks.

Surprise Farm Addition Unveiled

Some of you know I have had a surprise addition to the farm on the way. They arrived this morning.

Hint: They are larger than ducks :)

Open Barn Event

The big annual Open Barn Event is on for this weekend. The weather should be beautiful! Not much mud, but don't wear sandals or shorts. Also goats like to chew on shoe laces and other strings.
All soap will be available for purchase for the sale price of $5 per bar. Goat milk cheese will be available for a suggested donation of $5 per package.

Saturday May 3 from 2-4pm
Sunday May 4 from 2-4 pm

Light snacks and drinks will be served.
